AWS vs Azure vs GCP: How to Choose, Without the Vendor Bias

We get asked "which cloud should we use?" more than almost any other question — and the honest answer is usually "it depends on what you already have," not a universal ranking. Here's how we actually help clients decide.

If you're already a Microsoft shop

If your organization runs on Active Directory, Microsoft 365 and .NET, Azure's identity integration (Entra ID) and hybrid tooling typically cut weeks off a migration compared to bridging into a different ecosystem. This is the single biggest "default to" signal we see.

If you need the deepest service catalog

AWS has the largest and most mature set of managed services, the largest talent pool to hire from, and the most third-party tooling support. For teams without a strong existing platform preference, it's the safest default — particularly in India, where AWS hiring pools are the deepest.

If data, analytics or AI/ML is the core of the product

GCP's BigQuery, Vertex AI and networking (genuinely excellent global backbone) make it a strong pick for data-heavy or ML-heavy products, even if the rest of the org isn't on GCP. We've recommended a GCP-only AI pipeline sitting next to an AWS application estate more than once.

Cost comparisons rarely settle it

Sticker pricing across AWS, Azure and GCP is close enough that raw price-per-vCPU shouldn't be your deciding factor — committed-use discounts, reserved instances and architecture choices swing real costs far more than list price differences between providers.

You don't have to pick just one

Plenty of our clients run multi-cloud deliberately — primary workloads on one provider, a specific AI or data service on another. The cost of this is operational complexity, which is exactly what Terraform and a consistent DevOps layer are meant to absorb.
